Aging Bone and Muscle ProgramMayo Clinic is a leader in the study of osteoporosis. Investigators studying this common age-related disease have recently discovered potential mechanisms explaining why osteoporosis is linked to aging. They have also discovered changes in cell function with aging that impacts muscle wasting or sarcopenia, another common disability related to aging. Our Aging Bone and Muscle Program will bring together investigators from multiple disciplines to help define and understand the mechanisms through which bone and muscle wasting are linked to fundamental cellular processes and devise treatments based on their findings. |
