Genetics of Frontotemporal Dementia

Mayo Clinic in Florida has collected a large series of clinical frontotemporal dementia cases. Neill R. Graff-Radford, M.D., in collaboration with Rosa Rademakers, Ph.D., has used these cases in discoveries related to the progranulin gene.

Additionally, Drs. Rademakers and Graff-Radford have studied a blood test for progranulin mutations and found it to be a very accurate screening tool. Dr. Rademakers continues to use these samples to discover additional genes that cause frontotemporal dementia.
