Ongoing ResearchOngoing scientific and clinical research programs keep Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at the forefront of discovery and ensure that patients have access to the newest and most effective medical treatments and diagnostic methods. The Cell Biology Program is one of three basic science cancer research programs, and along with the Immunology and Immunotherapy, and Gene and Virus Therapy Programs, conducts cutting-edge research designed to create better understanding of the genetic and cellular underpinnings of cancer as well as ways to combat cancer. Mayo's basic science researchers work together with clinical researchers and clinicians to find ways to prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat cancer. Their findings are translated to patient care through clinical trials, or clinical research studies, which test the most promising discoveries to determine the benefits for patients and compare new treatments to today's standard of care. Researchers in the Cell Biology Program conduct research in the following areas: |
