Significance of Research The research has been important in helping to find therapies for patients with primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. One of our studies led to FDA approval for ursodeoxycholic acid for primary biliary cirrhosis. Research Interests Optimizing management strategies for patients with primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Studies evaluating primary therapies as well as management of complications have been ongoing for over a decade Pilot studies evaluating innovative therapies as well full-scale randomized trials to confirm results from pilot studies are ongoing.
