SummaryDr. Nicole Murray is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and a Senior Associate Consultant in the Department of Cancer Biology, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Dr. Murray's laboratory focuses on characterizing the genes involved in the initiation and progression of cancer. We are currently evaluating the role of several protein kinase C (PKC) isozymes in colon and pancreatic cancer. We use transgenic mouse models for evaluation of PKC isozymes in K-ras-mediated initiation of carcinogenesis and also to test potential chemotherapeutic agents. In addition, we use parallel, in vitro cell culture models to characterize the signal transduction pathways regulated by the PKC isozymes. Current investigations focus on the role of atypical PKCiota in the initiation of pancreatic cancer. Recent publicationsEducation
