Summary

My research interests focus on identifying noninvasive biomarkers for assessing treatment response and prognosis in human subjects with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), and drug-induced autoimmune hepatitis.

Specific focus areas include:

  • Identifying the role of novel quantitative biomarkers including magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) for assessing treatment response and prognosis
  • Assessing the relationships between liver disease-related symptoms, mechanisms of disease, and patient-reported outcomes in PBC and PSC
  • Determining the clinical and molecular risk factors associated with recurrent AIH, PBC, and PSC after liver transplantation

Work in these areas has been sponsored by research grants from the Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) and the National Institutes of Health.
