SummaryOur clinical and translational research program focuses on several interrelated areas broadly relating to acute and chronic liver injury.
The major research theme involves application and validation of novel magnetic resonance imaging techniques for evaluating patients with acute and chronic liver injury. This research program, sponsored by the Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) award in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health, is specifically focused on magnetic resonance elastography as an imaging marker for hepatic fibrosis. These studies are done in collaboration with members from the Center for Advanced Imaging Research as well as the Departments of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering, Radiology, Pathology, and Biostatistics. Related areas of study include 1) dynamic in vivo MR imaging of vascular hemodynamics with liver injury and 2) biomechanical aspects of drug-induced hepatotoxicity
