SummaryThe Zebrafish is an unique vertebrate model that is suited for genetic and genomic studies. It possesses the power of both to identify novel genes through forward genetic screens and to annotate functions of an individual gene by reverse genetics. Taking many advantages of this model organism, we will study basic molecular mechanisms of the heart formation and cardiac function. Specifically, we are studying the assembly of the cardiac contractile machinery and the signaling pathways that regulate cardiac contractility. In addition, we are establishing and characterizing zebrafish models for human diseases, such as dilated cardiomyopathy. Our long term goal is to develop next-generation genetic screens in zebrafish which might lead to novel therapies. Recent publicationsSee a listing of my publications Education
