ADVANCING THE SCIENCE

The Kogod Program on Aging is multifaceted to maximize effectiveness. A Research Career Development Core and a Pilot and Exploratory Studies Core have been developed to support work that has a high probability of leading to successful NIH (R01) applications. Program leaders are exploring partnerships with other institutional entities on age-related research of mutual interest to provide development assistance.

The Research Career Development Core encourages young investigators interested in age-related research to join the Program on Aging. Modeled after Mayo’s highly successful Clinician Scholar and Clinical Investigator Programs, this core will insure effective mentoring of awardees by dedicated and highly skilled colleagues.

The Pilot and Exploratory Studies Core, under the direction of Sundeep Khosla, M.D., supports meritorious novel research and provides a training ground for expanding the scientific repertoire of promising young investigators.
