Hormonal Networks & Drug ResponsesChanges in hormone production and related effects occur with aging. Hormones, including insulin, insulin-like growth factor-1 and growth hormones, impact the rate at which age-related changes occur. Other hormones, including estrogens and androgens, may play an important role in reducing age-related disability and preventing age-related disease. Mayo Clinic has long been a leader in endocrinology research. The Hormonal and Regulatory Networks Program will capitalize on the strengths of Mayo’s network of scientists in translating findings about effects of hormones on aging and age-related diseases into treatments to enhance independence. |
