The Community Education Partnership Program

The Alzheimer's Association Minnesota North Dakota Chapter and Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center invite care facilities or community groups to partner with them in offering a program to benefit families and communities around Southern Minnesota.

The partnership program offers groups the opportunity to have dementia education specialists present a 90 minute educational session. The program is targeted to the general community (not appropriate for staff training). The content will include the following:

  • The Basics of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias
  • Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Stages of the Disease
  • Coping Strategies for Families & Caregivers
  • Information on the Progress of Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia Research
  • Where to turn for help
  • Understanding participation in Alzheimer’s related research

In return for this free program, the community partner is asked to arrange a quiet, comfortable meeting space. Community partners are requested to market the program to families within their facility or organization, as well as the general community in whatever ways are available to them (mailed invitations, flyers, posters, newsletters, announcements at support group meetings). A minimum of 10 confirmed attendees is needed. It is recommended community partners provide light refreshments.
