OVERVIEWThe Department of Anatomy features a well-equipped gross anatomy dissection laboratory, complete with preparation facilities, a state-of-the art lecture room and a Procedural Skills laboratory (which includes the MicroSurgery laboratory). We offer many courses to students at Mayo Medical School. Two major courses, Microscopic Anatomy and Gross and Developmental Anatomy, are incorporated into didactic blocks. In addition, we offer Anatomy Selectives for first and second year medical students as well as several more specialized elective courses for senior medical students. These courses are consistently highly rated by the medical students. We also offer a variety of courses for residents, fellows, and consultants in conjunction with activities in the Procedural Skills laboratory. We conduct original research in medical education, including innovations in medical education, introduction to professionalism in early medical education, and to principles of teamwork and leadership within the gross anatomy curriculum. See our Publications for specific examples of our activities. |
