Tendon and Soft Tissue LaboratoryPrincipal Investigator: Peter C. Amadio, M.D. Tendon injuries are common and often devastating, resulting in permanent loss of motion. The principal problem is excessive scarring, resulting in adhesions that limit tendon gliding. Our research aims to reduce or eliminate adhesions through a combination of tissue engineering approaches, fundamentally re-engineering the injured tendon and its interface with the surrounding tissues. The following research topics relate to a wide range of disciplines and technologies such as orthopedics, biomechanics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology.
