Training ProgramPrincipal Investigator: Jeffrey R. Basford, Ph.D., M.D. The Rehabilitation Research Training Program is a federally funded program that assists qualified physicians and Ph.D.'s to enter a career of successful rehabilitation-related research. Biomechanics is but one of the five "areas of excellence". The others are Biostatistics/Epidemiology/Health Services Research, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke (now broadened to include Acquired Brain Injury), and Pain. Two research fellows from the Biomechanics/Motion Analysis Laboratories were supported for a total of 18 months by this grant during the calendar year. Areas of research included magnetic resonance elastography, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, and novel application of MRI techniques to assess osteoarthritis. One peerreviewed publication, one NIH-grant, and three presentations were produced in 2004. |
