The Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics provides opportunities for information technology professionals in support of biomedical research. Candidates must have a B.S. degree in computer science or a related field. Proven written and oral communication skills are essential. Positions will also require additional experience with specific programming languages, software tools or technologies as noted in the online posting. Desirable experience may include education and/or applied experience with the following:

Business Intelligence, Database, and Data Warehousing Technologies
Related to the storage, indexing, and analysis of biomedical data for applied research.

Java / J2EE Technologies
Used for the development of component-based multi-tier enterprise applications to access and manipulate biomedical data.

Text Analytics / Natural Language Processing
The process of developing and applying algorithmic, pipelining, and machine learning techniques to unstructured text in order to discover biomedical concepts, patterns, and relationships.

Terminology and Ontology Development
Providing the ability to tag, categorize, annotate, and classify biomedical knowledge.

Terminology and MetaData Standards
Providing for consistent and sharable data to enhance interpretation and reuse in the research community.

Bioinformatics Training
Related to an understanding of biology and bioinformatics applications within the genomics field.
