4th Annual Biomedical Nanotechnology Workshop
Friday, November 7, 2008
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kahler Hotel, Elizabethan Room
Rochester, Minnesota
The 4th annual Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota Biomedical Nanotechnology Workshop will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This conference is made possible with generous support from the Mayo Clinic/Foundation, Departments of Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Biomedical Engineering with equal support from the University of Minnesota Medical School, the Institute of Technology, the College of Biological Sciences, and the Graduate School.
Nanoparticles possess enormous potential to improve the efficacy of the biomedical field. As such, research in this area is expected to be highly interdisciplinary and will draw on expertise from academics, as well as from the private sector. Consequently, the researchers from different disciplines of the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic have established a consortium to employ nanotechnology and nanoscience solutions in medicine. To expedite our collaborations as well as to interact with researchers of multiple disciplines from both institutions and others, we are jointly arranging a workshop. The topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to, gene therapy, antiviral agents, nano encapsulation, implantable devices, and other areas of BioMEMs.
The goals of this one-day workshop are to:
- Bring together researchers in the Academic Health Center, the Institute of Technology, the College of Biological Sciences, The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center for Transposon Research and others at Mayo Clinic and as well as researchers in local industry that are interested in the area of Nanomedicine.
- Establish links for future collaborative work.
- Begin planning for possible funding sources in this area.
There is no cost for the workshop; but space is limited, so register soon if you plan to attend.
Registration Is Now Open!
The registration forms may be submitted by fax or e-mail.
