Gene Analysis Services - DNA Sequencing

The Gene Analysis Services Shared Resource offers full-service DNA sequencing, using either dye terminator or dye primer chemistries on ABI 3730xl sequencers. Users provide primers and template in either individual tubes or in microtiter plates, and DNA Sequencing personnel perform all cleanup and sequencing reactions.

In the past year, staff performed over 180,000 sequencing reactions. Continued efficiencies and institutionally-supported equipment upgrades have enabled a stable price structure for the past five years, despite increasing costs for personnel and reagents. Recently the Shared Resource added an Illumina 1G Genome Analyzer, that allows incorporation of high-throughput “next generation” sequencing services.
