MOLECULAR NEUROSCIENCE PROGRAMThe Program in Molecular Neuroscience in the Mayo Graduate School offers graduate training leading to the Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. degrees in biomedical sciences (molecular neuroscience). The cross-departmental program offers the student a selection of more than 40 independent thesis laboratories, together with a comprehensive selection of laboratory rotations and an integrated curriculum of neuroscience courses. This broad range of thesis laboratories has particular strengths in the areas of molecular biology, membrane and channel biophysics, signal transduction, receptor pharmacology, neural networks, three-dimensional imaging from the cell to whole brain level, and neural cell biology. All of the research areas have a focus on neurobiological processes that relate to human disease. In addition to specialized study in the field of interest, students have the opportunity to obtain a comprehensive education in biomedical sciences by taking a broad range of courses in other departments within the Mayo Graduate School. Early in their program, students select a topic for advanced dissertation research from the many diverse opportunities available within the programs of the faculty members. Students can complete their thesis research in Rochester, Minnesota; Jacksonville, Florida; or Scottsdale, Arizona. FACULTY AT MAYO CLINIC IN ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA
