Overview
For more than 100 years, Mayo Clinic has been providing personalized health care to every one of its patients. In the past decade, advances in genomic and clinical science have created exciting, innovative opportunities to further tailor health care to each patient.
In the Center for Individualized Medicine at Mayo Clinic, physicians and scientists are working together to not only make new discoveries in genomic and clinical science, but also translate these breakthroughs into new ways to predict, diagnose and treat disease.
For patients, individualized health care means better health care. Projects in the Center for Individualized Medicine will lead to increased capabilities for doctors to — for each unique patient — predict and perhaps prevent some diseases, take earlier action when diseases do arise, and choose the most effective medications and treatments while minimizing their side effects.
By spurring new individualized medicine programs and projects at Mayo Clinic, the Center for Individualized Medicine represents the natural next step in Mayo's long, successful tradition of providing personalized solutions and hope to each of its patients.
