PPARgamma signaling in thyroid, lung, hematopoietic and renal cell carcinomas Single agent and combinatorial therapy of a novel high affinity PPARY agonist inhibit human anaplastic thyroid tumor growth. Peroxisomal proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma) is a transcriptional factor found in most cells. It plays a role in differentiated functions of cells by heterodimerizing with other transcriptional factors (RXRs), thereby regulating gene expression. We have identified human tumor cell lines that are growth inhibited by PPARgamma agonists and are exploring the mechanisms by which this occurs. We are also exploring other drugs and compounds that may act synergistically with PPARgamma agonist to inhibit tumor growth. |
