CT Clinical Innovation Center OverviewSince the advent of multi-slice computed tomography (CT) systems in late 1998, CT technology has continued to undergo tremendously exciting developments that have had, and will continue to have, a substantial impact on patient care. However, the potential of the latest CT technology and the quantitative information contained within the image data have not been fully investigated, and CT continues to be used primarily for the detection of masses and inflammation in symptomatic patients. One of the primary goals of the CT Clinical Innovation Center (CT CIC) is to move clinical CT beyond this paradigm and to measure and quantitate physiological variables and processes. The mission of Mayo's CT Clinical Innovation Center (CT CIC) is to facilitate high-impact imaging innovations that will translate directly into medical care.
