The technical staff of the EMCF includes several highly trained diagnostic technicians with a combined 45 years of experience in the evaluation of tissue samples. Typical studies include TEM and SEM evaluations of samples from the major organs, case studies of derm disorders, TEM tumor studies, TEM evaluation of nasal brushings for cilia disorders, x-ray spectral analysis, and morphometric studies. Here at Mayo, specimens from all over the world are sent for evaluation. The number and variety of disease processes received for EM evaluation result in an experience level not normally found at the EM level at other institutions. The EMCF diagnosticians apply their education, training and experience to offer a high level of competence in these ultrastructural pathology studies.
