Fig. 22-33-D volume reconstructed image of a neuron in the mouse SMG and spatial distribution of appositions with VAChT-like-IR (colored yellow) on the surface of the neuron. VAChT is required for the transport of acetylcholine from the cytoplasm into synaptic vesicles. Thus, VAChT-like-IR is a marker of presynaptic nerve endings containing acetylcholine. The neuron was filled with Lucifer Yellow, imaged by confocal microscopy and volume reconstructed using ANALYZE software. This neuron had an extensive dendritic arbor. |
