MissionTo contribute to the Mayo Clinic's research, clinical, and educational missions through the initiation and conduct of important epidemiological studies among Olmsted County residents, Mayo Clinic patients and other populations. Research priorities are directed toward questions emanating from programmatic areas of research excellence within the institution, important clinical practice questions about the application of specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic technologies, and other high impact areas. Studies originate from within the Division of Epidemiology, Mayo Clinic consultation staff, and/or through collaboration with other Mayo Clinic colleagues. The goals of these studies are to:
Educational priorities are directed toward training colleagues to evaluate clinical practice at the Mayo Clinic, to generate new research programs, and to gain an appreciation of the study design issues inherent to interpreting the medical literature. These goals are accomplished through didactic courses and collaborative research. Section Consultants may also mentor medical or graduate students, clinical trainees, and clinical staff through specific research projects of mutual interest. |
