The Gastrointestinal Physiology Laboratory is housed in the Guggenheim building. The aim of the laboratory is to further understand the regulation of gastrointestinal motility in both health and in disease. This laboratory works in close collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Szurszewski, Dr. Tamas Ordog, Dr. David Linden and Dr. Michael Sarr and shares similar goals. The laboratories collaborate on most projects with a shared interest in gastrointestinal smooth muscle cells, interstitial cells of Cajal, and enteric nerves. A close collaborative effort also exists with the research and clinical programs of other members of the Enteric Neuroscience Program including the Clinical Enteric Neuroscience Translational and Epidemiological Research investigators.
