Post-doctoral Position OpeningsDivision of Gastroenterology and HepatologyA Mayo Clinic post-doctoral position is available to study the molecular and physiological properties of interstitial cells of Cajal, the pacemaker of the gastrointestinal tract. Join an established and enthusiastic group using a combined approach with molecular identification of vital signaling proteins, intracellular recording and patch clamp recording of ionic currents, and laser scanning confocal microscopy to characterize dynamic changes in cell calcium. These efforts are expected to lead to a better understanding of the basis for rhythmic electrical activity in the small intestine, and translation of these findings to the clinical setting. Candidates with a background in calcium imaging are preferred. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree.
