PI Bio

Dr. Fonseca obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Anahuac School of Medicine in Mexico City. He later completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida followed by a Clinical Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He joined the Mayo Clinic Staff in June 1998 and is a Consultant and Professor of Medicine as well as Site Director for Hematological Malignancies at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He is also a clinical investigator at the Mayo Clinic Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves on the leadership team of the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium. His research interests are centered on the genetic and cytogenetic nature of the clonal cells of the plasma cell disorders.
