A Novel Cis-acting Element in a GammaretrovirusThe lab of Dr. Ikeda has studied the epidemiology, biology and pathogenicity of a novel gammaretrovirus, xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus (XMRV), which was initially found in prostate cancer tissues.1,2 The lab recently found a cis-acting element that enhanced expression of XMRV protein Env and is analyzing its mechanism.
