Overview

The Cardiovascular Disease and Aging lab focuses on three main areas:

  • understanding mechanisms contributing to aortic valve and atherosclerotic plaque calcification
  • identification of reciprocal regulators of skeletal and cardiovascular calcification
  • understanding mechanisms contributing to vasomotor dysfunction in health and disease

Through the use of molecular screening on human tissue, novel strains of genetically modified mice, and in vitro/cell culture methods, our lab aims to develop novel therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and age-related disease.

Research in this laboratory is supported by the National Institutes of Health (HL092235).
