Jumonji-related proteinsThe Jumonji protein is a transcription factor involved in many developmental processes. In particular, it is the founding member of a group of proteins characterized by a novel structural motif, the JmjC domain, which is implicated in chromatin regulation through histone demethylation. We have cloned one Jumonji-related protein, TSGA, and are currently cloning further Jumonji-related proteins. Our goal is to analyze how these Jumonji-related proteins modulate chromatin structure, how they affect cell transformation, and how their knock-out/overexpression affects development and tumor formation. |
