James D. Krier

James Krier joined Mayo Clinic in 1988 as a research assistant in the Division of Hypertension. Since 1997 he has been a senior research technologist in the Division of Hypertension. He performs a number of experimental studies including the design, planning, scheduling, performance and data analysis in the areas of animal surgery, angiographic procedures and interventions and laboratory tests. He is author and co-author of multiple papers and peerreviewed journals and also is involved in the training of research fellows and students in animal surgical techniques, imaging procedures and other laboratory techniques. Mr. Krier received a B.A. degree in physical education from Bethel College in St. Paul in 1985. He earned a master's degree in human performance from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1987, and a master's degree in physiology from Mayo Graduate School in 1997. He was named an Associate in the Division of Hypertension and Internal Medicine by the Board of Governors in 2003.

James also advises fellows on methods utilized to develop a renal stenosis model. James works close with radiology to actively acquire imaging data for the Renovascular Research Laboratory. He coordinates the Computed Tomography imaging for the department research. During scanning he is involved with directing the scan protocols. These models are analyzed and investigated further within the laboratory to determine efficacy of the research methods through imaging analysis. The research model is important for determining quality intervention that may facilitate the advancement of treatments within nephrology and hypertension.
