Why is this study being done?

Etanercept is a novel anti-inflammatory drug which has shown promise in phase II studies as an efficacious therapy for patients with moderate to severe alcoholic hepatitis. Therapy is for 3 weeks with 6 months follow-up. Positive results are anticipated to result in FDA approval for the use of etanercept as treatment for alcoholic hepatitis.

Who is Eligible to Participate in the Study?

Patients with alcoholic hepatitis and/or cirrhosis may be eligible.

Minimum Age:

18 years
