American Academy of Ophthalmology 2011 Annual Meeting: Featured InterviewsThe annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology was held in Orlando, Fla., in October 2011. This annual meeting is the single largest gathering of medical professionals who study diseases and conditions of the eye. The weeklong event draws international participation for educational seminars, business meetings, and a wide range of presentations, symposia and panels about ophthalmology research and practice updates. Mayo Clinic's Department of Ophthalmology was well represented in all areas, with Jonathan M. Holmes, M.D., receiving special recognition for his research on amblyopia. Mayo Clinic physicians, working with Mayo Clinic's Department of Public Affairs staff, conducted a series of video and audio interviews with American Academy of Ophthalmology officers and other leaders in the field.
