Pi BioPI Bio: Drs. Pabelick and Prakash form a husband-wife team of clinicians who spend a substantial percent of their effort in the laboratory. Dr. Pabelick has been at the Mayo Clinic since 1995. She spent 4 years performing research in the laboratories of Dr. David Warner and Dr. Gary Sieck before completing her residency in Anesthesiology (during which time she was the recipient of two awards for outstanding research). She is a pediatric anesthesiologist by training, and her research interests include the physiology and pathophysiology of lung development. She has extensive experience in Ca2+ regulation in the airway and the effect of volatile anesthetics on airway smooth muscle. Dr. Pabelick's research has been funded by the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), the Mayo Foundation (Clinical Research Grant) and, in collaboration with Dr. Sieck, by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Prakash has been at the Mayo Clinic since 1990. After completing his PhD and postdoctoral training at Mayo, he completed medical school at the University of Minnesota and residency training in Anesthesiology. He splits his time between clinical practice and research. Dr. Prakash is a recognized investigator and expert in Ca2+ regulation in cardiac and smooth muscle. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH; R01) and the Mayo Foundation (Clinical Research Grant). |
