MissionTo develop treatments that will halt the progression of Parkinson's Disease. We aim to nominate and validate molecular targets for new drug development via human genome epidemiology studies. We aim to partner with industry to develop new drugs, and to test their safety and efficiacy in our study population. To nominate and validate the targeted therapies, we first discover susceptibility genes, then understand their complex interactions (including with the environment), and then demonstrate that variability in these genes modifies disease outcomes (independent of interactants). In anticipation of clinical trials, we will charactarize our study population longitudinally, and develop stable biomarkers of disease severity. |
