About Dr. Patel![]() My research has included studies of the molecular biology of vancomycin and linezolid resistance in enterococci, and vancomycin resistance in Paenibacillus popilliae, development of molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., Shiga toxin), and animal models of infectious diseases (e.g., endocarditis, osteomyelitis, pneumonia, meningitis). My current goal is to improve the diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection through the development of improved diagnostic assays, to characterize mechanisms of biofilm formation in Staphylococcus lugdunensis and to develop novel approaches to the therapy of biofilm-mediated infections. |
