In Vitro and In Vivo Studies of New and Investigational Antimicrobial AgentsOur laboratory has a long history of in vitro and in vivo investigations of antimicrobial strategies. Recent studies include evaluation of daptomycin and linezolid in an experimental rat model of experimental osteomyelitis, evaluation of anidulafungin and voriconazole in a murine model of Candida albicans central nervous system infection, evaluation of ceftobiprole medocaril in a murine Gram-negative bacillary pneumonia model, and evaluation of daptomycin in murine pneumococcal meningitis. We have recently demonstrated activity of electrical current against microbial biofilms both in vitro and in vivo, a phenomenon we have labeled the "electricidal effect". |
