Overview

The Human Imaging Core — one of three core facilities supported by the Mayo Translational PKD Center — provides two imaging services to assess and catalog PKD progression or regression.

Core Services

• Imaging data management: The core facilitates the transmission, collection and storage of anonymized imaging data used in translational PKD research, and provides a system that enables PKD researchers around the United States to exchange images.

• Image analysis: The core offers semiautomated magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) image and volumetric analyses of polycystic kidneys and liver, as well as functional assessment of the kidney and heart (including measurements of renal blood flow).

Numerous developmental projects are also under way in the core, which are likely to lead to new or enhanced services that will further facilitate the translation of basic PKD research discoveries into clinical practice.
