Research Facilities
We are one of the laboratories in the Molecular Medicine Program (MMP), a virology and human gene therapy initiative at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. We are located on the 18th floor of the Guggenheim Building (right), a research pavilion right next to the Mayo Medical School on the main College of Medicine campus. Our facilities include a new Biosafety Level 3 facility for work with HIV-1 and other Level 3 viral pathogens, tissue culture suites, microscopy facilities, and space for molecular biological experimentation. A superb animal facility is located two floors above, and we use numerous excellent core facilities in the Guggenheim daily. Collaborative projects with colleagues in the Mayo Medical School take advantage of Mayo's clinical depth and excellence. The MMP now offers a separate track for Ph.D. students in the Mayo Graduate School. Mayo Clinic also has a Medical Scientist Training Program for M.D.–Ph.D. students. |
