Investigator: Peter Amadio, M.D. Professor of Orthopedics and Biomedical Engineering

A Postdoctoral position is available in the Tendon and Soft Tissue Biology laboratory of Dr. Peter Amadio at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota. The successful candidate will join a comprehensive NIH funded research team whose work focuses on solutions to clinical problems related to soft tissue healing. Current projects are investigating the role of TGFβ signaling and soft tissue fibrosis in the pathogenesis of carpal tunnel syndrome, a common but idiopathic neuropathy; the use of tissue engineering strategies to repair and reconstruct functioning tendons and ligaments; and mechanisms controlling the lubrication of tendons in health and disease. The laboratory incorporates state of the art biomechanical testing of soft tissues at both the macro and micro level, and molecular biology techniques to characterize mechanisms in cell and tissue culture as well as in vivo. The laboratory's overall goal is to translate our findings into clinically relevant therapies for common disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially those affecting the hand and wrist.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in tendon and soft tissue biology, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. All candidates should have excellent English language verbal and written communication skills.
