Research Support

Ongoing

  • 05/01/2006-04/31/2011 (Principal Investigator) Mechanisms of Aggregation in Light Chain Amyloidosis. Funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH R01 GM071514-01A2)

The overall goal of our proposed research is to dissect the molecular mechanisms that cause light chain amyloidosis (AL) deposits to form by studying the different aspects of immunoglobulin light chains.

  • 01/06-12/09 Principal Investigator: Cardiac Light Chain Amyloidosis: Role of protein folding and Protein Stability. Funded by the American Heart Association- National Research Center (AHA 0630077N)

  • 08/06-11/11 Co-investigator: Phase III Stem Cell Transplant for Light Chain Amyloidosis. PI= Morie Gertz, MD. Funded by the National Cancer Institute (NIH R01 CA111345)

Completed

  • Hematalogic Malignancies Fund (Intra-mural)
    06/01/03-06/01/06

Title: Protein Folding and Stability of Light Chain Amyloidosis In Vitro

The goal of this project is to serve as seed money to generate enough preliminary data for an R01 proposal.

    Role: PI

  • Human Frontier Science Program postdoctoral fellowship
    06/01/99-05/31/01

Title: Experimental models for amyloid-fibril based diseases

The goal of this project was to systematically study the factors that influence misfolded states that induce amyloid formation

    Role: PI
