Stem Cells and Their Microenvironment

Significant questions remain unanswered regarding the fate of stem cells (including exceedingly high cell death rate) after transplantation and what are the mechanisms involved. In this project, we study the biology of stem cells in the living subject (focusing on oxidative stress and nitric oxide pathways), and we use different molecular imaging strategies (e.g., luciferases, thymidine kinase, sodium iodine symporter).
