Our clinical research team is focused on various perioperative outcomes. It is well known that respiratory complications play a significant role in postoperative outcomes. High risk patients such as elderly and bariatric patients or those undergoing prolonged thoracic, vascular and upper abdominal procedures have an increased incidence of pulmonary complications. There is emerging evidence that conventional ventilator settings during anesthesia in high risk patients may be associated with increased incidence of acute ventilator-associated lung injury and respiratory failure. We research association between various ventilatory strategies and pulmonary complications in morbidly obese and elderly patients. In addition, we conduct a variety of retrospective studies to evaluate anesthesia relevant outcomes.
