James D. Buntrock
SummaryMr. Buntrock received his undergraduate training in computer science at Minnesota State University Moorhead and graduate degree in management science with an emphasis on information services from Stritch University, Milwaukee. He completed additional graduate training in computer science and business administration from University of Minnesota and University of St. Thomas. Mr. Buntrock began his professional career as a software developer at Mayo Clinic in 1991. He is currently serving as the Unit Head for the Informatics Systems Unit supporting software and technology projects for the Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics and related research initiatives. He is currently an Instructor in Medical Informatics at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Mr. Buntrock is active in the Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid Vocabulary and Common Data Elements and Architecture workspaces, the National Center for Biomedical Ontologies, and Health Level Seven Common Terminology Services V2 specification. He serves as program manager for several extramural and intramural projects relating to knowledge representation, vocabulary services, natural language processing, and genomic data collection and bioinformatics analysis including the Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics.
