My research interests focus on use of integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture and mind body therapies.

I also have a general interest in research for a worksite wellness initiative and the health and well-being of nursing staff.

Specific research focus areas include:

• Identifying the effect of massage therapy for hospitalized surgical patients.
• Identifying the effect of music in the hospital environment.
• Identifiying the effect of acupuncture for symptom management with hospitalized patients.
• Assessing stress and health behaviors of nursing staff.
• Determining the knowledge, attitudes and use of complementary and integrative therapies with nursing staff.

Work in these area has been sponsored by Mayo Clinic research grants and departmental funding.
