SummaryThe research program of Dr. Goode focuses on the genetic and molecular epidemiology of cancer, particularly ovarian, colorectal, and breast cancer. She runs an ongoing ovarian cancer case-control study at Mayo Clinic which is part of the international Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium. Currently, the group is focused on large scale analysis of genetic variants related to the NF-kappaB family of transcription factors. The group is also part of a genome-wide association analysis utilizing over 610,000 genetic markers. As part of the Colorectal Cancer Family Registry, Dr. Goode oversees a genome-wide linkage scan of 400 high-risk colorectal cancer families that have previously been screened for known mutations in mismatch repair genes. She is involved in analysis of genome-wide association data on colorectal cancer as well. Breast cancer studies currently focus on candidate genes within the NF-kappaB pathway. Additional methodological projects concern aspects of heritability, population stratification, and linkage disequilibrium.
