Most of my research focuses on one of the following major themes:

• Cardiovascular disease in women and sex-based research of cardiovascular conditions
• Coronary heart disease:symptoms, pathophysiology, microvascular disease
• Risk factors and prevention
• Optional diagnostic and treatment strategies
• Heart disease in pregnancy and the effects of pregnancy-related conditions such as diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
• Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) in women and men
• Heart failure in women
• Reduction of health disparities and health equity, especially as it relates to women and minorities
• Development and assessment of strategies and programs to increase the number of women and minorities in science, medicine, cardiology and the leadership ranks of academic medicine.
