Summary
My research interest concerns the molecular mechanisms of gynecologic diseases. Currently my laboratory focuses on the epigenetic regulation of gene expression in preeclamptic placenta and endometrial cancers. We apply a variety of molecular biology approaches to study: - TEA domain transcription factors and their regulation on placental cell differentiation, specifically, the phosphorylation, DNA binding, and protein-protein interaction of TEA domain transcriptional factors in trophoblasts. 2) Hormonal regulation of the DNA methyltransferase; The role of DNA methyltransferase in cancer development; Gene specific silencing by DNA methylation/histone acetylation mechanisms in endometrial carcinomas.
- The pathogenesis of preeclampsia; Identification of pre-diagnostic markers for preeclampsia.
- Re-sensitization of progesterone-resistant gynecologic cancers by epigenetic modification reagents, including DNA methyltransferase and histone deacetylase inhibitors; Identification of new biomarker and therapeutic targets on gynecological cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment using microarray and proteomic technologies.
