SummaryResearch interests include the development and clinical testing of various types of cardiac assist devices as a bridge to transplant and destination therapy, the impact of LVADs on the coagulation profile and bleeding issues, the use of stem cell therapy in congestive heart failure patients undergoing LVAD placement, the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, minimally invasive valve procedures, and ventricular restoration procedures. The stem cell research is being done in conjunction with the University of Minnesota. Coagulopathy studies are conducted in conjunction with Duke University and the University of Minnesota.
