SummaryDr. Kantor is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and the Department of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Her translational and interdisciplinary research is NIH funded. It lies at the interface of vascular biology of atherosclerosis and cardiac imaging. She has a special interest in diabetic patients who are at significantly increased risk of developing heart disease. Her NIH awards are entitled â??Collaterals in Aging: Enhanced by Genetic/Cell Therapyâ?? and â??In Vivo Localization of Vulnerable Plaqueâ??. In these grants, she applies dual-energy CT and microscopic-CT (micro-CT) to small and large animal models of atherosclerosis and diabetes to study mechanisms of ischemia. Dr Kantor has won numerous research awards. She is a member of two National Study Sections and serves on two Mayo Foundation Committees, which oversee clinical research.
