Summary

Ron Landmann, M.D., holds research interests in:

  • Diseases of the colon, rectum and anus
  • Application of minimally invsive techniques including laparoscopy, robotics, transanal and endoscopic procedures
  • Improvement of modalities to affect patient outcomes and quality-of-life
  • Values-based research to improve outcomes while reducing cost
  • Laparoscopic resection for colonic polyps
  • Laparoscopic/robotic resection and its applicability in colorectal malignancy
  • Minimally invasive techniques utilized in the treatment of Crohn's disease
  • Minimally invasive procedures, including restorative proctocolectomy and ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
  • Laparoscopic total abdominal colectomy for colonic dysmotility

Dr. Landmann's team conducts clinical trials in the field of colon and rectal surgery. They are currently participating in a number of NIH- and multigroup sponsored multi-center trials of laparoscopic/robotic/transanal resection of colon and rectal cancers

The team also has studies underway to improve patient's quality-of-life after surgical intervention for inflammatory bowel diseases.
